THE PINEWOOD DAYS
Our story began as a vision of Wooddale Church in Eden Prairie. Excited to start a new church where people could be introduced to Christ, Jerry Schommer accepted the call to plant a new church in May, 1992. Woodcrest first met for launch team formation in the Community Room at Marquette Bank, adjacent to Wooddale Church in Eden Prairie.

Beginning in September, 1992, pre-launch worship services were moved to Pinewood Elementary School in Eagan. The first public service (Celebration Sunday), which introduced Woodcrest to the Dakota County community, was held on October 11, 1992. 398 people were in attendance for the first service!

As Woodcrest began to grow, the limitations of the Pinewood Facility became more evident. The gymnasium did not provide the welcoming environment for inviting friends and neighbors, and most of the children's classes met in the school's hallways. Additionally, the effort of setting up the facilities was grueling. These issues led Woodcrest to search for improved ministry facilities.

ROSEMOUNT COMMUNITY CENTER - The Building Days
In 1994, a lease was negotiated with Rosemount Community Center. This facility allowed Woodcrest to continue offering improved ministry opportunities. On-site storage was provided but the arduous set-up and take-down routine began to take a toll over the years. In addition, the classroom availability was limited on a consistent basis. Woodcrest rented the Rosemount Middle School to accommodate additional numerical growth.

In October of 1996, Woodcrest Church members approved the purchase of the land that is now the home of Woodcrest Church. God provided 14.2 acres of land on the corner of Highway 3 and Cliff Road in Eagan. The land came with a 6 acre pond, 3 acres owned by Woodcrest.

God's leading was amazing, as He removed any obstacles to the purchase and provided the financial means to complete the deal. In 1997, Woodcrest had its first outdoor service on its newly-purchased land.

FIRST BUILDING - The Growing Days
On Sunday, December 17, 2000, the first worship service was held in our current church facility. Due to the rapid growth of the Woodcrest congregation and ministries, student ministry space was built in the spring of 2002. While in the new facility the Woodcrest Church grew numerically and in ministry scope.

GENERATIONS WING - The Developing Days
In 2008, the Generations Wing was added to the Woodcrest facility. The additional 18,000 square feet has enhanced ministry to our community. The new ministry space includes a prayer room along with a first-class student and children's ministry center.

Jerry Schommer concluded his 23 year ministry as Senior Pastor at Woodcrest in June 2015 and after serving in a 6 month interim position, Pastor Pete Parker was elected to the Senior Pastor position. Woodcrest serves as a church home to over 1,000 people from the suburbs of Eagan, Inver Grove Heights, Apple Valley, Rosemount, Farmington, and over a dozen other cities in the greater Twin Cities. God continues to be faithful to His church . . . and we believe the best is yet to come!
